Let’s start with Homer. I simply expect you know him. If you don’t, shame on you! Why are you still reading this blog! Go on a quest using Google, YouTube and Wikipedia and do not return until you’ve learned to love him! Because besides the fact Homer is very yellow, he once or twice simply gets it right. It was him who spoke the legendary words:” "To alcohol! The cause of... and solution to... all of life's problems"

I drink to that. And ah, there’s my bridge! We can’t start a blog about the life of a student in Tilburg without dedicating a few words to alcohol. You want to know where you can drink the cheapest, so here are a few tips:

Philip

You could start at the Philip. For every order you receive a blue coin. These coins you can use until 23:00 hours to get a drink. Free beer!  Well, not exactly off course. Because you only receive these blue coins after 23:00 hours, so this means you have to spend a night before in the Philip so you received some coins which you can share now so generously. But the Philip is not the place for me when I’m out of blue coins. The crowd is using too much hair products and mascara for my taste. So thank god for you friends! They always seem to have an unlimited supply of blue coins.

Miller Time

I can hear you think. Miller Time. Why? Perhaps the most underrated bar in Tilburg. But I can’t think of a reason why there are always just a handful of visitors present. Sure, the stairs which leads to the toilet is so small that even a leprechaun will think twice before making use of it, but the room itself is pretty big, you can do karaoke (admit, you love karaoke after three beers) and from 23:00 till 01:00, a beer wil cost you only 1 euro. So naturally, you’ll buy 70.

Boekanier

Tired of singing on the Karaoke machine? You’re next stop is de Boekanier then. You can buy a Jupiler for just 1,10 euro. Officially until 01:30 hours, so you have to be quick with those 70 beers from the Miller. But if you’re lucky, they kinda forget it’s well past happy hour so you can save your money for some Red Bull the next morning when you’re trying to stay awake in college.
